Garrick Neuner (he/they/she) is a genderfluid baritone from Long Island, New York, studying in the inaugural class of Bard Conservatory’s undergraduate vocal program. He performs in a broad range of disciplines and styles, drawing from his upbringing in gospel and jazz to inform works across the history of classical music. Their operatic experience ranges from Baroque in Bard’s Opera Workshop, to the English operetta Iolanthe with the Graduate Vocal Arts Program and The Orchestra Now, to brand new premieres including Zeke Morgan and Lucy Berger’s chamber opera Vivisection. Through frequent collaborations with Bard’s composition program, she has embraced exploration of gender and politics through performance, improvisation, and writing. Her belief in the power of this music has led to performances in the Music Alive series, Bard Sinfonietta concerts, and Missy Mazzoli’s vocal composition workshops, where she has both sung and composed newly premiered works.
